It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news of our friend and colleague Robert Bratton’s untimely death. Bob passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in his home.
After serving our country in the navy Bob began a thirty-year career in the marine industry. Early in his career Bob worked with Doug Russell whom Bob credited with teaching him many of the ins and outs of the marine industry.
In the mid nineties Bob joined Sea Chain Marine and exceled. Sea Chain’s owner saw Bob’s potential and made him manager of the company’s recently acquired marina Bass River. Under Bob’s leadership Bass River Marina became one of the most successful Marina’s on Cape Cod. Bob was a true leader that really understood the importance of teamwork. Managing Bass River Marina was more than a job to Bob. When he spoke of the marina he would often say with pride, “I wear this place on my sleeve”. Through the many changes Bob stayed committed to the success of Bass River Marina and satisfaction of its customers. He had a sense of compassion and attitude of non-judgment that made everyone that met him feel like a friend.
Bob’s other passion was music. He loved listening to it and playing it. Favorite pastimes were enjoying concerts and playing the drums. He was the member of a successful band that many of us were fortunate to see perform at local venues on the Cape. Bob would joke about being a rock star. To all of us that had the experience to truly know Bob he was and in our hearts always will be a rock star.
